Georgetown Pivot Program Welcomes Its Seventh Cohort
Posted in News
The Georgetown Pivot Program recently welcomed its seventh cohort of Pivot Fellows! Over the next nine months, Fellows will participate in an intensive curriculum designed to build expertise in business management, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. This comprehensive program equips returning citizens with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce and achieve their long-term career goals.
A highlight of the Pivot experience is the internship component, which connects Fellows with employers across various industries. These internships not only provide hands-on learning opportunities but also challenge perceptions about justice-involved individuals in the workplace. Alyssa Lovegrove, Executive Director of the Pivot Program, explains, “For many employers, the experience of having a Pivot intern on the team humanizes the issue. Second-chance hiring is much less daunting when you get to know someone who has been justice-involved, and that creates opportunities, not only for our Fellows but also for other returning citizens.”
The launch of the seventh cohort underscores the Pivot Program’s ongoing commitment to fostering second chances and creating pathways for success. As these Fellows embark on their journey, they represent hope, resilience, and the potential for transformative change—not only in their own lives but also in the broader community.
