Lakina Edwards

Meet Lakina:

Lakina Edwards earned an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Everest College in 2012, and she continued her studies at the Georgetown School of Continuing Education’s Paralegal Program. In 2018, she worked as a customer service representative for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. She recently completed an internship with the DC Superior Court’s Office of the Auditor Master, and she is also a DOES Project Empowerment graduate. She is an advocate for Returning Citizens, Mental Health, and Domestic Violence Survivors. Lakina plans to use the Pivot Program to start her own paralegal training program to better serve returning citizens and the community at large.

Lakina enjoys researching, organizing, and planning, and she is an avid museum visitor. The best day she has ever planned was the day she took her kids, 9 year-old Eric and 5 year old Serenity, to the Museum of African American History. After touring the museum, they had a picnic on the mall and saw the White House at night.
